The May Outing at Blue Bucket Mine is May 20-21 and 22 (Friday, Saturday,and Sunday) 2011 at the Blue Bucket Mine in Eastern Oregon.
You may arrive May 19 and leave May 23.
Camping: The outing will run from friday to Sunday. Overnight camping is available on the property. There are 24 RV sites some with electricity only ($4.00 a day) and water and electricity ($6.00 a day) There are NO campfires allowed in RV park. These campsites are first come first serve. There is a large area for dry camping and campfires are ALLOWED in that area. Camp does not have firewood, so make sure you bring your own. GPAA members can check in on Thursday and have till Monday morning to checkout. Check in is from daylight to dark. If you arrive after dark you will need to dry camp till Maria can give you an RV site the next morning. They will have ice for sale at 1.50 for bag or cubed.
Outing Schedule: There will be a common dig on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You are required to work a 4 hour shift each day. There will be a potluck on Sunday night. . Everyone is asked to bring something for the dinner. There is a kitchen available for our use. They have a refrigerator, ovens, microwave and cookware. They ask that you bring your own plates and silverware. Also we were asked that we clean up when we are done. Sunday after the dinner, the concentrates will be divided.
Direction to the property: Take Exit 330 off of I 84 (eastern Oregon) which is about 33 miles east of Baker City Oregon. The camp is just west of Huntington Oregon.
Get off at exit 338, go to stop sign. Turn left under freeway (I 84). The road forks on the other side of the freeway. You will see a large LDMA sign. This is the camp, turn on to the road. Go straight ahead. Stop at 1st building on the left. This is the caretaker house. You have arrived!
What to bring: Parka or rainwear, boots, 5 gallon buckets, blue tarp (if using your own high banker), bug spray, potluck dish, prospecting equipment (anything you need to search for gold), shovel, classifiers, gold pans, snuffers, metal detector, rock pick/pry bar, trowel, gloves and gold pan.
Rules: If you use the high banking pond for high banking you must use a blue tarp (5x7) to put under the high banker and over the edge of the pond so the water from the high banker does not erode the edge of the pond. Members planning on bringing children who are not their own ( grandchildren, nieces and nephews), must have a written permission slip from parents as well as proof of medical insurance. Alcohol is allowed, but No public intoxication is allowed. In other words Use alcohol responsibly.
Misc. Information: Club house contains TV, DVD, small library, puzzles and a poker table. If you want to have a poker game, the rules are KEEP IT FRIENDLY. 5-25 cent bets only with a 3 raise limit. Huntington is 10 miles away. Groceries, liquor store, and auto repair. When you check in you will be given general camp rules and a waiver form.
