GPAA Beach Outing
May 10-14
Pacific Beach State Park
Our beach outing in June is coming up quickly, and there are limited camp sites, and no site for group camping, so we need to call and make reservation as soon as possible, (http://www.parks.wa.gov/parks/?selectedpark=Pacific Beach &subject=all) or call the state reservation office at 888-226-7688 or Pacific Beach 360-276-4297. Bela and I have booked space #16. Eight people are allowed per camp site, so we can double up if using tents. We choose this area because, it is the only one of the four allowed areas for beach mining that has a fresh water stream (Boone Creek) running through the beach sand and out to the surf, it is also further North, where there is the possibility of more beach gold. Ocean Shores is just 18 miles to the South where more lodging and camping is available.
The area we will have our mining activities, is at Boone Creek a few miles from the State Park, so we will have to transport our gear. Roosevelt Road is the access road to the beach mining area, turn on Roosevelt Road and drive to beach, turn South and drive on beach (be sure you are driving on the solid sand) to Boone Creek. The pilot area only allow us ½ mile on each side of Boone Creek. . You can contact Ray Pierce raypierce2000@yahoo.com
