This is a letter from one of our newest members. She and her family went to their first outing at Waddell Creek
Good Morning Rob,
I just had to let you know how much we enjoyed our day with the club.
Even though we had to get up at 4:15 am to make the trip up to the park, We had a blast!!! The kids talked about the outing ALL week long. (Let me tell you it was a long week of waiting)
We enjoyed breakfast with the group. I kind of scratched my head over the whistles. Although a very good idea for safety. I found myself telling Jenna & A.j "You are not lost or hurt! Get it out of your mouth" It is great idea. I thank the gentleman for the whistles.(as soon as we got to the truck they went right in the tub with the mini highbanker, and that’s where they will stay!) Although when we lost the car that we were following to the claim & pulled over at a stop sign. Sydney asked if they could blow the whistles 3 times since we were lost. We found a new leader to the claim & it all worked out great.
I must say what a wonderful group you have. Everyone was there to have a good time & didn't hesitate to help each other out. I didn't find one bad apple in the group. However I did end up with sad faces. I heard a few "mom can we just rent a motel & stay?" The one I liked the most was "mom can't we just go home & get the tent and come back?" (the ride is only just over an hour one way) That generated a "your joking right? Do you not remember how long the ride was up here?"
Sunday morning Sydney & I went through our concentrates. We had the wheel out & then the mini highbanker. After going through all of our dirt & finding a few specks of gold.(and a LOT of garnets!) Not only was I reminded of the Blue Bucket outing.(and reminded again this morning at the bus stop, "mom isn't the Blue Bucket outing this weekend?) But I was told we could run up to Waddell creek because the group was probably there. We did learn a few new things at the creek. And well ,Mike is now working on a new classifying bucket. This new bucket will have smaller holes. I can't wait to use it!
In closing I'd like to say thank you again. Having a family the size of ours is hard to get all six of the kids smiling at once. However I have found with prospecting I can get six smiling faces at once. What more could a mom and dad ask for? And yes I have heard there is an outing at Blue Bucket. It's not this week but the following week. I really want to go to Scott Bar on the 12th of June. I know that I will get six smiling faces down there. However just in case you didn't know there's an outing at Blue Bucket and it's ok to miss just a few days of school.
Here's to the gold in the bottom of your pan but most of all the new friends we found at the creek.

Guest speaker Bill O'Rourke, author of the "Found In Rolls" column as seen in Coin World magazine. Bill shared tips on using a metal detector to hunt for coins. Some of his tips are:
Dig everything you find.
Triple check area after you find something.
Keep going, don't give up.
Don't go metal detecting alone, or at least keep mindful of your surroundings.
Make sure coil is parallel to the ground and don't go to fast, leaving a large V of area not searched. Cover an area no wider than 3 ft. and move in a nice Sloooow pattern.

There is only one qualification: It must be a working model demonstrated in front of the Very Distinguished Panel of Qualified Judges at the June 12, 2010 meeting.
The Prize? $25.00 Gift Certificate and a Gold Nugget.
Who are the Judges? To Be Determined................
Greetings to all Prospectors!
We am writing to you concerning the future direction of the Western Washington Chapter of the GPAA.
Don't worry! We are not going to disband the club. Just the opposite, we are moving in a direction to firmly secure its future for generations to come. How are we doing that you may ask? Simple answer yet a complicated process.
We have started the process with the Internal Revenue Service to make the Chapter a 501 (c) (3) Corporation under the IRS Tax Code. Once we have incorporated under the laws of the State of Washington, we will then complete the paperwork for the IRS. The hopeful end result is the Chapter being designated a Not-For-Profit Charitable Organization where donations, gifts, etc. can we written off ones federal income taxes.
This process will probably take several months so don't hold your breath. If you have questions, please drop us a line.
