Message from our President

There were new folks at the May meeting.  The club continues to grow.  We must be doing something right!

The Blue Bucket outing was a success.  There were 57 in attendance.  We processed 14 dump truck loads of material, out of which we recovered 650 pounds of concentrates.  The gold was not as good as last year, but all seemed to have a good time.  I hope we all learned from the experience.  We did get to know one another better, always a good thing.  I want to especially thank Richard and Maxine Markovits, Bela Kovacs, Rich Dusatko, Dan Jones, Bill Willett, and Wanda Hightower for their help during the outing.

In the minutes, you will find that GPAA is offering to help the clubs who enter claims in the mining guide.  I believe this is a very good thing.

I continue to ask for suggestions for future meetings.  For the June meeting, I will bring a dry washer to work with.  We will have panning tubs set up, so anyone having concentrates they want help with can bring them.

See you at the next meeting.  Lonny

WWGPAA Meeting   May 14, 2011 Chapter Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Lonny.
The pledge of allegiance was led by Lonny.

Guests were introduced by Kim.  Present Corney Kusis, Brian & Jim Silvara, Wayne Conie, Tracy and Patty Noble, Gary and Karen Burger.

The minutes were read by Doris.  A correction was made in the guest list from last month, Richard Millard changed from Mallard.  Phil Lato made the motion to accept as ammended, second by Mac McTerran, passed.

No committee reports.

Correspondence:  We received the final approval of our claims from BLM.

OLD BUSINESS:

Red Bird outing of April went well.  There were 20-25 people attending and listed as cleanup crew.  It was stated that we need better markers.

Outings:  Waddell creek outing for May was discussed by Bob Nelson.

Blue Bucket outing was discussed by Lonny.  There are 64 signed up for the outing.

Yellow Jacket is scheduled for June.  Jack Estle offered to host the outing.

The plaque had been sent to Rob.

Kim is working on a new attendance list for the club.  We need an accurate record of active members.  He is passing out forms to be filled out to update information.

Lonny needs ideas for future meetings.  A request for information for the recovery of flower gold was made.

Next month a dry washer will be set up for demo.

Lonny gave a report of the GPAA summit from April.  The board proposed the listing of the claims in the GPAA mining guide.  As this came from committee, no motion was needed.  The listing of the Red Bird and  Red Bird II was passed.  The adopt a claim plan was presented.  As this is from committee, no motion was needed.  The vote to adopt the claim that abuts our claim was passed.  To list the claims, and to adopt the other claim will provide the WWGPAA with 50,000 points per, equaling 150,000 points per year, plus the annual fees paid for the claims by GPAA.  Hours spent maintaining the claims are to be sent to Lonny.

Red Bird needs more work.  Small work crews should get together to continue to clean the sites.

The Snowball outing was discussed.  Colleen suggest costume contest as last year, and Darlene suggest an auction as last year.

The raffle was held.  There were five $18.00 prizes.  The bake sale netted $101.25.
Meeting adjourned.

Notes from Kim Knise, Vice President

I was unable to make either outing due to longstanding personal commitments but I understand everyone had fun and there was sparkle in that there concentrate !!!!!

The bake sale was great at the last meeting  my bread starter is bubbling away.   A couple of good bribes and I can get Linda to bake some up!  Thank you to everyone who contributed or purchased items.

We are working as an organization to continue the work of Sandy Caldwell and others in getting information out to both new and current members.  For those of you that are unable to attend the monthly meetings, I would appreciate it if you could send me an email at kimknise@yahoo.com , or give me a phone call at 425-221-1418 so we can verify the current information we have for our group registry of members.

I would like to verify the following information:
Full name,  Mailing Address (optional), City, State and Zip (all three required please), telephone contact numbers (optional), GPAA or LDMA number (required),  Committee and activity involvements you are interested in *Claims, Legislation, Outings, Education * or any other ideas you have.  This will allow us to update our information, coordinate email groups for committees and legislative meetings etc.

If you know of anyone that has attended a meeting, but is not receiving the newsletter and or has had no contact with the group, please feel free to forward them my information and I will get the information the group needs to remain in contact.

Hope to see you at the June Meeting and the scheduled events for the rest of the season.
WWGPAA BOARD MEETING  MAY 14, 2011

The meeting was called to order at 12:17 pm by President Lonny Meadows.

Present: Lonny Meadows, Kim Knise VP, Dannie DeForrest, Richard Dusatko, John Dykstra Treasurer.

Lonny gave report on GPAA summit held in Las Vegas last month.  GPAA will award 50,000 points to each club for each claim listed in the mining guide.  GPAA will pay the fees for each claim while it is listed.  The club does the maintenance.  WWGPAA has two claims to list.  The Board recommends listing the claims in the GPAA mining guide.

The GPAA is beginning an adopt a claim program.  For each claim in the mining guide that a club adopts, that is to do the maintenance work each year, the club will receive 50,000 points.

Lonny received 50,000 points for the club for attending the summit.  The points go towards the purchase of GPAA products.  Lonny will attempt to get our balance of points to get merchandise for the club.

The board is to look at reimbursement policies and procedures.

There was general discussion on outings, education, membership retention, etc.

Update on Waddell Creek Outing May 21-22

We had a good showing for the Waddell Creek Outting... about 12 of us camped at Millersylvania State Park and we had about 16 or so down to the creek for some panning....everyone got some gold in there pans....

Saturday was a little rainy, but for the most part not to bad. Saturday Evening we had a Potluck back at camp and stories around the campfire... Sunday a few went back for some more time on the creek.

I think it was a great turn out considering 75 of the Group were down in Blue Bucket Oregon. We have another Waddell outting in September but we will not have base camp at Millersylvania State Park this time as it is very difficult to get reservations there....
It will be a different park, either Heritage or Olympic RV parks
