GPAA Minutes May 10, 2008

The meeting was called to order at 1:00 P.M. by president Rob Matthews

Pledge of Allegiance was recited

There were 43 members in attendance

There were 5 visitors

The minute from the last meeting were read and approved.

Treasures Report: There was no treasurer’s report

Committee Reports:

President: Rob Matthews - Nothing to report

Vice president: Lonnie Meadows- Nothing to report

Claims Committee: Jon Demars- Jon reported that he is trying to find claims. He also asked for help from members to find something, also, announced there would be a short meeting after we adjourn to discuss Blue Bucket Outing.

Claim Inspector: Don Kirst -Nothing to report

Equipment Manager: Bela Kovacs- Bela spent some time telling us that Steve Rehe the Marine Biologist from our last meeting was hired by Steve Kalinowski  to work on the beach mining project.  Bela said that Steve Rehe called to ask what the miners needs were in regards to beach mining. Bela gave him Bruce Beatty’s name and number.  Steve suggested that we get the community involved when the time comes. Bela also announced that we have received a donation of  2 rocker boxes from John Caldwell to add to our sluice boxes, we now need to come up with some way to check out this equipment. Ray Pierce has offered to donate carpet for rocker boxes.  Both were thanked.

Raffle Coordinator: Colleen Blackburn thanked everyone for buying raffle tickets and explained that the money from the raffle each month goes to pay for chapter expenses.

Legislative Updates: Wayne Plemmons-   It was mentioned that we need to remember to contribute to the coffee can fund

Old Business:

Jon Demars announced that Waddell Creek will probably not be opened for anything but Class O prospecting during our outing  June 21-22.

New Business

Bill Willette from Bedrock Prospectors was asked if we could use their portable Panning trailer, called “Trailer Creek” during our meeting sometime this year. Bill explained what it was and that it is a “catch and release creek” He also reminded us of the Miners Rendezvous 08, May 17, 2008.

It was announced that “Message Board will be changed to 7:00 P.M Wed. and a reminder will be sent.

It was announced that the Board meeting held before our chapter meetings will be changed to 12:00 P.M.

We are looking for a program coordinator and secretary

Program “Introduction to Prospecting was started today and will continue for a few meetings.

Meeting was adjourned and a raffle held as a fundraiser.
