GPAA Minutes April 12, 2008
The meeting was called to order at 1:00 P.M. by president Rob Matthews
There were 49 members in attendance
There were 6 guests including our speaker for the day Steve Kalinowski with Washington State Department of
Fish and Wildlife, Bruce Beatty from Resources Coalition, and Bill Rehe, a marine Biologist.
There were 2 visitors
It was announced that one of our members John Brockley had died last week of a heart attack A sheet was passed around for members to sign to be sent to his wife along with a card.
The minute from the last meeting were read and approved.
Treasures Report: It was reported that the balance is $722.26
Committee Reports:
President: Rob Matthews - Nothing to report
Vice president: Lonnie Meadows- Nothing to report
Claims Committee: Jon Demars- Reported on our outing to Blue Bucket Mine in Oregon. He gave information on the facilities and a check list of things to bring. A sign up sheet was passed around and a deadline of May 10th 2008, (next meeting) was given. There was also a list of questions about the outing given to Sandy Caldwell. She will call the caregiver at Blue Bucket to get the answers and post them on an outings page on the website. It was noted that about 9 or 10 people are going to the outing. Also an outing at Waddle Creek in Capital Forest was discussed. It will be the 3rd weekend in June. It was decided that we would discuss it at our next meeting because of time restraints of having a speaker.
Claim Inspector: Don Kirst -Nothing to report
Equipment manager: Bela Kovacs- waited till old business to give report
Raffle Coordinator: Colleen Blackburn thanked everyone for buying raffle tickets and said she could always use donations.
Legislative Updates: Wayne Plemmons- Nothing to report
Old Business:
Bela Kovacs reported on the workshop to build equipment for the chapter. He stated that next time it would be better if it was done with a smaller number of workers. He said he could handle 1or 2 helpers. He brought samples for the chapter to see.
Cabelas Demo: Richard Holcomb President of Bedrock Prospectors thanked our chapter for our help during the demo at Cabelas last month. He also let us know that there was going to be another one may 24th and 25th. More information to come. Also reminded us of the Miners Rendezvous 08 , May 17, 2008.
New Business: Guest speaker Steve Kalinowski with WDFW He gave a presentation and answered questions.
Meeting was adjourned and a raffle held as a fundraiser.
