WWGPAA Minutes
March 8, 2008
Meeting was called to order by Rob Matthews.
The readings of the minutes from the last meeting were dispensed with and were accepted as submitted.
Marcia informed Rob that there was no correspondence and that she needs to resign from the position of Secretary due to other commitments. Rob asked for volunteers at the next meeting.
Officer & Committee Reports
Lonnie (VP) had nothing to report.
John (Treasurer) reported that the Treasury had $678.46 before any activities today.
Claims Committee Chairman Jon noted that there was no activity to report on at this time.
Don Kirst our Claims Inspector was not present to present his report.
Equipment Manager Bela Kovacs noted that there would be an equipment building session at his home on Thursday March 20th at 6:00PM. Plans were in place to build two sluice boxes for the organization.
Colleen reports that the raffle was doing well and items are always welcome.
Rob Matthews reported that things are going well for the Blue Bucket Outing over Memorial Day. Plans are being finalized.
Old Business:
Beach Legislation was passed by the General Assembly for a 2 year test period commencing July 1, 2008. One will need a HPA permit for beach mining.
Membership approved the establishment of a Coffee Can Fund for the payment of legal fees and claims. The donation is voluntary.
Sandy reported that the web site now has a calendar of events and a gold chart. Future developments will include a legislative link and a workshop list for building equipment. The web site is located at www.wwgpaa.org .
New Business:
Considerable and extensive discussion was held around the issue of outings for the balance of the year. Rob was to coordinate the first outing over Memorial Day at the LDMA properties known as Blue Bucket. Jon DeMars (GPJJ@wavecable.com) was to coordinate the next outing. The desire was expressed that someone would volunteer to coordinate each activity so that the entire process was not the responsibility of one individual.
The Cabala’s Gold Demonstrations is scheduled for March 15 & 16th from 8AM to 9PM on Saturday and10AM to 6PM Sunday. All are welcome to participate.
Other Gold Activities scheduled are:
A GPAA Gold Show will be held on March 28 & 29th in Salem, Oregon
A Miners Rendezvous (Sponsored by Bedrock Miners) will be held at the Masonic Hall in Puyallup, WA on Saturday May 17th from 9AM to 6PM. Potluck will be held at Noon.
The meeting was adjourned and a raffle held as a fundraiser.
